Financial Assistance

The APSC Foundation Financial Assistance Program is designed to help students with expenses incurred while attaining a degree in pharmacy.

Intent of Program

The Financial Assistance Program is designed to pique student interest in independent community pharmacy practice and, thereby, promote and perpetuate independent pharmacy practice and private ownership. It is NOT designed for the student who has the ultimate objective of paying off the loan upon graduation and pursuing a professional career that excludes independent pharmacy.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Successful completion of pre-pharmacy curriculum requirements
  • Acceptance to an AACP-accredited school or college of pharmacy
  • Permanent residence in or attendance at a school or college of pharmacy in a state with APSC shareholders
  • Eligibility for each semester is predicated on successful completion of the preceding semester
  • A grade point average equal to a “C” or better must be maintained throughout the program

The Financial Assistance Program does not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, color, religion, national origin or sex.

Financial Assistance

  • Up to $4,000.00 for each professional year the student is enrolled in an AACP-accredited school or college of pharmacy
  • Up to an additional $1,000.00 in the final professional year

Satisfaction or Re-Payment of Loan

All monies received by a student participating in the Financial Assistance Program shall be documented by an APSC Foundation Financial Assistance Agreement signed by the student, and, if under 21 years of age, co-signed by another person acceptable to the APSC Foundation Board of Directors.

Students may satisfy the entire financial obligation through a work program. Upon graduation and licensure, students accepting a position as a registered pharmacist in an APSC shareholder pharmacy will receive a year for year offset on the outstanding balance of their financial assistance for each year of continuous full-time employment. Students completing the required years of continuous full-time employment will have the entire balance of their financial assistance obligation and all accrued interest thereon declared paid in full.

If upon graduation and licensure a student accepts a position as a registered pharmacist in an independent pharmacy that is not an APSC shareholder pharmacy, the student will receive a year for year offset in the amount of one-half of the outstanding balance of the financial assistance obligation for each year of continuous full-time employment. Students completing the required years of continuous employment will have one-half of the outstanding balance of the financial obligation and that part of the accrued interest thereon declared paid in full. They will remain obligated to repay any outstanding balance of the financial assistance provided and all accrued interest thereon.

If upon graduation and licensure a student does not accept a position as a registered pharmacist in an independent pharmacy, the student will be obligated to repay the entire outstanding balance of the financial assistance provided and all accrued interest thereon according to the terms of the APSC Foundation Financial Assistance Program.
