Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Protocol: Acute, Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection Treatment Protocol Training & Education

In December 2019, the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy approved protocol for pharmacist(s) to initiate the dispensing of antibiotic and urinary analgesic therapies to treat acute, uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) in adult females. This protocol is to provide timely and accessible treatment for adult females with acute, uncomplicated UTI (also known as acute, uncomplicated cystitis) following diagnostic confirmation via CLIA-waived point-of-care urine dipstick rapid screening test.
This webinar is approved for 2.0 hours of CE Credit.

Objectives:
Understand the causes, risk factors and epidemiology of UTIs
Describe individuals that meet criteria to benefit from this protocol.
Understand presentation of acute, uncomplicated UTIs.
Identify necessary supplies and procedure of point-of-care urine dipstick testing.
Understand how to interpret point-of-care urine dipstick test results.
Identify appropriate antibiotics to dispense and key medication counseling points for these antibiotics.
